Union Pilates is proud to be the only designated Fletcher Pilates® Teacher Training education centre in British Columbia and one of two across Canada.
The Fletcher Pilates Program of Study is the most comprehensive and definitive international Pilates educational program of its kind. Our program derives from the physical conditioning method developed by Joseph and Clara Pilates in the 1920s and expands to include its evolution and ongoing interpretation by Pilates Master Ron Fletcher. The multi-dimensional Comprehensive Program is the only teacher-training program to be fully endorsed by Ron Fletcher.

In body, breath, mind and spirit we preserve the inspired evolution of Body Contrology, the work of Joseph and Clara Pilates, as articulated by our Master Teacher, Ron Fletcher. As he mentored and taught us, so we will teach and mentor others in the physical transformation that leads from strength to balance to grace.

The Fletcher Pilates® Comprehensive Program is designed to give participants a thorough understanding of the complete Fletcher lineage of the Pilates method and to instil an understanding of how to successfully and skillfully teach Fletcher Pilates®. The full range of Pilates apparatus is incorporated as well as signature Fletcher Pilates® techniques.
Fletcher Pilates® Teacher Training is offered in individual modules focused on each apparatus.

The Fletcher Pilates approach to classical Pilates Matwork is built from an in-depth focus on our Pilates Movement Principles and Fletcher Fundamentals™. Our Matwork Program is a hybrid in-person / online course where participants gain a thorough understanding of the complete Pilates Matwork and Magic Circle syllabus as well as the purpose and therapeutic benefits of each exercise. Emphasis is placed on precise movement initiation and articulation, correct alignment, creative transitions, as well as movement modifications and progressions. This program focuses on developing an understanding, as well as creative approach to teaching Pilates Matwork sessions and classes to all skill levels. Upon successful completion of the Matwork Program, students receive a Matwork Teacher Certificate and are eligible to teach Fletcher Pilates® Matwork. The Matwork Program consists of 30 in-person classroom practicum hours with additional online study, assignments, discussions and more.
The Matwork Program totals 145 hours.

Students must complete the Matwork Program as well as 5 private sessions prior to entry into all other Comprehensive Program modules.

The Comprehensive Program includes all Beginner and Intermediate repertoire on all Pilates apparatus including the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Spine Corrector and High Barrel. Each 5 day module runs in-person at our Vancouver Fletcher Education Centre: Union Pilates. Additional observation, casework and practicum hours are required for each module.
Each module totals 145 hrs

Upon successful completion of the Comprehensive Program, students receive a Qualified Fletcher Pilates® Teacher Certificate and are eligible to successfully and safely teach in studio, clinic, fitness and other settings with this internationally recognized designation. Our Advanced Intensive Continuing Education builds on knowledge from the Comprehensive Program to include exclusive Fletcher Pilates® techniques such as Fletcher Towelwork®, Fletcher Floorwork® and Fletcher Barrework® as well as Advanced Reformer Syllabus. Upon successful completion of the Advanced Intensives, students receive a Professional Teacher Certificate and are eligible to teach the complete Fletcher Pilates syllabus. The entire Fletcher Pilates Syllabus totals over 1000 hours of training.

Comprehensively trained Pilates teachers interested in studying the Fletcher Pilates® method and earning a Fletcher Pilates® Qualified Teacher Certificate may complete the Fletcher Pilates® Comprehensive Program as a Bridge student.
The Bridge process is ideal for students from other Pilates lineages and schools. Students that have completed a program that meets the approval criteria of the Pilates Method Alliance Registry of Schools are eligible to enrol as a Bridge student in our Matwork and Comprehensive Programs at a discounted rate. Bridge students may participate in individual modules. Bridge students must complete 5 private sessions prior to starting the Program.

There are NO prerequisites to join the Fletcher Matwork Program. We do recommend coming in to the studio to join our community, ignite your passion and get moving as soon as possible to gear up for your program. Once you’re done Matwork and wanting to continue on to Reformer and other equipment training, we require 5 Private Sessions with a Qualified Fletcher Pilates® Teacher prior to entry into our Comprehensive Program.
